Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam was a backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father invited her to take on an opportunity to be the curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She together with her family then relocated into the iconic. She was a graduate in 2005 of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was a vocal music major. Sullivan started singing as a contralto children's choir, then after a couple of years, she joined the adult group. The exposure Sullivan had to secular music was at first limited "I had solos singing in churches and a person wanted me to sign to an evangelical label when I was 11, but I was not ready to do that," she recalls. "Then when McDonald's offered a competition to kids in major cities I had the opportunity to perform 'Accept Whatever God Gives' on Showtime in the Apollo and the audience loved it". At the age 13 she sang with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age fifteen. It was her first time signing with Jive Records at the age 15. She produced an entire album. However, this album never saw release. Sullivan was then removed out of the company. Her work had been in good relationship with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced many of her tracks and tracks, such as "Backstabbers" and "Backstabbers," which was written by Timbaland.
